Job summary

BruntWork is hiring for a remote medical billing assistant to support the Submissions team in submitting electronic and paper claims and resolving issues. The role involves checking daily submissions, identifying errors, and communicating effectively with teammates.

Requires at least two years of college and prior medical billing experience, preferably in Behavioral Health, with a reliable home workspace. Compensation is hourly as an Independent Contractor with benefits described in the offer.

Qualifications

• Must have at least two years of college education.
• Prior experience in medical billing including provider credentialing, authorizations and reimbursement is preferred.
• Ability to work with backups and ensure continuity (needs own device/backups).

Responsibilities

• Review claims to ensure complete and accurate information before submission.
• Transmit electronic and paper claims using billing software.
• Audit medical records to ensure services billed are supported by documentation.
• Follow up on rejected claims daily and resolve issues.
• Stay on top of provider enrollment for submissions to succeed.
• Update team leader on recurring issues and attend weekly meetings.
