Job summary

AfterQuery is hiring literary scholars as contractors to author and grade close reading and interpretation scenarios that frontline AI labs use to test model judgment. You will craft readings with textual evidence and assess model outputs for fidelity and depth, flagging misinterpretations.

We're seeking candidates with an advanced literature degree and 2+ years of relevant work. This is fully remote, async work with weekly Stripe payments and a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in literature, English, comparative literature, or a closely related field.
• 2+ years of teaching, research, editorial, or published literary work.
• Able to ground interpretations in the words on the page and explain limitations.

Responsibilities

• Author literary scenarios that test close reading and interpretation.
• Write reference readings with textual evidence behind each claim.
• Grade model output for textual fidelity, interpretive depth, and craft awareness.
• Flag readings that sound sophisticated but ignore what the text actually says.
