Job summary

VargasAndrews is seeking a Junior Accountant to support U.S.-based clients across the full accounting cycle. You will work with Senior Accountants and Fractional Controllers in a hands-on role emphasizing precision, accountability, and improvement.

Strong communication, problem-solving, and willingness to leverage AI are essential for success. Responsibilities include AR/AP, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and monthly close tasks.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (CPA is a plus)
• 3 to 4 years of accounting work experience
• Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills
• Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills
• Excellent report writing, communication, and computer application skills
• Advanced competency in Microsoft Office and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, and Excel
• Critical thinker with high proficiency in mathematical reasoning
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Familiarity with AI tools or process automation is a plus
• Must be amenable to working on a U.S. Pacific Time schedule

Responsibilities

• Core accounting execution: post and process journal entries, update AR/AP, reconcile accounts, prepare weekly/monthly reports and assist in financial statement prep
• Data management and close support: update financial data, assist monthly/yearly closings, assist with other accounting projects
• Other accounting tasks: invoicing, billing, taxes, and compliance under Senior Accountant guidance
• Accounting process improvement: design and implement processes to improve client accounting processes
