Job summary

York Hamilton Corporate Partners is seeking a Construction Estimator to support cost estimates for painting projects across residential and commercial sectors. You will review drawings, perform digital take-offs, and prepare detailed BOQs using estimating software, coordinating with the client’s project team to ensure precise, competitive estimates.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in construction estimating (painting or general trades preferred).
• Proficiency with digital take-off software (Buildxact, PlanSwift, Bluebeam or similar).
• Strong understanding of painting systems, substrates and surface preparation requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in costing and documentation.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and tender documentation.
• Strong organisational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work remotely with a project team.
• Familiarity with Australian construction standards and industry practices.

Responsibilities

• Review architectural drawings, plans and specs.
• Perform accurate take-offs (area, linear metre, volume) using estimating software.
• Prepare comprehensive BOQs for painting projects (residential and commercial).
• Collaborate with project management to clarify scope, pricing and deliverables.
• Develop detailed cost breakdowns for quotes and tenders.
• Identify risks, variations and incomplete information in project documents.
• Maintain organised records of take-offs and costing data.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement of estimating systems and processes.
