Job summary

TELUS Digital AI Community is seeking an AI Speech & Audio Specialist to contribute to next-generation speech AI technologies including ASR, TTS, voice AI, and audio ML systems. You will help ensure AI models deliver natural, accurate, culturally relevant, and human-like voice experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Audio Engineering, Sound Engineering, Music Technology, Phonetics, Speech-Language Pathology, Computer Science (Speech/AI focus), or related fields.
• OR professional experience in voice recording.
• Knowledge of audio editing/restoration, speech segmentation, spectrogram analysis, and audio quality assessment.
• English proficiency sufficient for technical instructions; native-level language preferred for some projects.
• Preferred: ASR, Voice AI, voice cloning/mimicry, ADR/dubbing, broadcast/media production.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated speech (TTS) for naturalness, pronunciation accuracy, rhythm, tone, emotion, and voice quality.
• Review and improve ASR outputs by identifying transcription issues and linguistic nuances.
• Perform professional audio editing: segmentation, trimming, noise reduction, silence adjustment, quality enhancement.
• Analyze recordings using waveform and spectrogram tools to identify issues.
• Support creation and validation of high-quality speech datasets for model training.
• Review voice recordings for clarity and technical quality.
• Perform audio quality checks including loudness, background noise, clipping, distortion, and export specs.
• Support voice AI projects including TTS, ASR, voice generation, similarity, and evaluation.
• Apply phonetics, linguistics, audio engineering to improve AI voice experiences.
