Job summary

Qubel is seeking an AI Engineer based in the Philippines to build and maintain production-ready applications for a South African partner. This hands-on role covers full-stack development, AI-powered automations, and integrations with existing platforms.

You will own projects end-to-end—from architecture to deployment and monitoring—while evaluating LLMs and applying best practices for reliability and security. Remote collaboration with the SA team is required.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of professional experience shipping full-stack applications.
• Experience deploying production systems and debugging in live environments.
• Strong backend skills in Python or Node.js/TypeScript; frontend with React/Next.js.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy complete applications including backend services, APIs, databases, and UI.
• Integrate applications with internal systems, third-party platforms, and external data sources.
• Build generative AI capabilities such as retrieval-augmented generation, structured outputs, tool use, streaming, prompt management, and model orchestration.
• Create workflow automations using n8n, custom pipelines, or event-driven architectures.
• Evaluate different large language models based on quality, cost, privacy, and response time.
• Set up logging, error tracking, monitoring, and alerts.
• Investigate production issues and continuously improve application reliability.
• Write secure, tested, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Use AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar platforms as part of your development workflow.
