hammerjack Pty Ltd is seeking a Regional Accountant to bridge regional BUs with the Portfolio Reporting Consolidation Manager. You’ll review close deliverables, manage variances, and support tax compliance across UK/EU regions.

You’ll work in a flexible setup with work-from-home options and opportunities to engage in system projects while staying aligned with portfolio policies and regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• Experience with period-end close, variance analysis and intercompany reconciliation.
• Knowledge of UK VAT (Making Tax Digital), EU VAT/OSS and HMRC corporation tax.
• Understanding of local GAAP and regulatory requirements across European entities.
• Ability to review OneStream reconciliations and balance sheet work papers.

Responsibilities

• Act as the main contact between the Portfolio Reporting Consolidation Manager and regional BUs, communicate reporting timetables and requirements, and follow up outstanding deliverables.
• Review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end submissions for completeness and accuracy.
• Analyze variances, obtain supporting evidence, and flag misstatements and judgement areas.
• Assist with indirect tax and income tax returns including GST, VAT, and US sales tax where applicable.
• Reconcile intercompany balances and resolve differences before consolidation.
• Monitor regulatory changes and highlight impact to management.
• Review OneStream reconciliations and supporting papers for balance sheet accuracy.
• Support system implementations and portfolio projects.

Bring clarity and confidence to regional reporting. As our Regional Accountant, you’ll help UK and European entities deliver complete, accurate, and compliant results. This role brings together period-end review, variance analysis, tax compliance, and intercompany reconciliation to keep portfolio reporting on track.

Role Overview

You’ll be the finance link between regional Business Units (BUs) and the Portfolio Reporting Consolidation Manager, reviewing close deliverables, resolving reporting issues, and providing early warning of risks. Your regional focus includes UK VAT (Making Tax Digital), EU VAT and OSS for digital services, HMRC corporation tax, and local GAAP across European entities.

Key Responsibilities

• Connect Regional Teams: Act as the main contact between the Portfolio Reporting Consolidation Manager and regional BUs, communicate reporting timetables and requirements, and follow up outstanding deliverables.
• Review Period-End Results: Check month-end, quarter-end, and year-end submissions for completeness, accuracy, and consistency with portfolio policies, resolving review points within close deadlines.
• Investigate Variances: Analyse unusual balances and movements, obtain supporting evidence, and flag potential misstatements and judgement areas to the Portfolio Reporting Consolidation Manager and Sub-Portfolio Finance Lead.
• Support Tax Compliance: Help BUs and external tax advisors prepare, review, and lodge indirect tax and income tax returns, including GST, VAT, and US sales tax where applicable, while maintaining a regional filing calendar.
• Reconcile Intercompany Balances: Resolve mismatches with counterparties across regions and escalates outstanding differences before consolidation deadlines.
• Monitor Regulatory Changes: Stay current with local accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements, highlighting changes and their initial impact to the Portfolio Reporting Consolidation Manager and Director of GRC.
• Review OneStream Reconciliations: Confirm work papers and supporting documents agree with balance sheet balances, reporting concerns to the Portfolio Reporting Consolidation Manager and relevant Sub-Portfolio Finance Leads.
• Support Portfolio Projects: Assist with system implementations, acquisition onboarding, process improvements, and other duties consistent with the role.

Skills & Experience

• Capability in period-end financial review, variance analysis, and intercompany reconciliation.
• Knowledge of UK VAT (Making Tax Digital), EU VAT and OSS for digital services, and HMRC corporation tax.
• Understanding of local GAAP and accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements across European entities.
• Ability to review OneStream reconciliations and validate supporting work papers against balance sheet balances.
• Clear communication and coordination skills when working with BU finance teams, portfolio stakeholders, and external tax advisors.
• Strong attention to accuracy, reporting deadlines, issue resolution, and timely escalation.
