Job summary

SMEC (an SJ Group company) is seeking an experienced professional to lead claims preparation and analysis for major railway projects in the Philippines. You will perform forensic delay analyses, interpret complex contracts, and coordinate with engineering teams to substantiate entitlement and recoveries.

Responsibilities include commercial assessment, dispute avoidance, and documentation management while engaging with stakeholders to support settlement discussions and, if needed, formal dispute

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Law, Quantity Surveying (Master's degree an advantage).
• 8–12 years of claims and contractual experience, with at least 5 years in railway, metro, LRT/MRT, or large infrastructure projects.
• Strong background in delay analysis, claims preparation, and dispute resolution.
• Expertise in FIDIC and railway-sector contracting frameworks.
• Proven experience handling multi-package, multi-interface projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation of claims related to delays, disruptions, productivity loss, design changes, interface issues, and scope gaps.
• Conduct forensic schedule delay analyses (e.g., Time Impact Analysis, Windows Analysis, As-Built vs As Planned).
• Work with engineering and construction teams to gather technical evidence and validate cause-and-effect relationships.
• Prepare detailed claim narratives, quantum calculations, and supporting documentation.
• Interpret contract conditions (FIDIC Red/Yellow/Silver Books, NEC, bespoke rail contracts).
• Develop cost estimates, variation quantifications, prolongation costs, and disruption analyses.
