Job summary

Dermesse Inc. is seeking an experienced R&D Manager (Cosmetics) to lead our research and development initiatives, supervising cosmetic formulation development, testing and quality assurance in alignment with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have 5–7 years in cosmetics R&D or product development, strong leadership and project management skills, and excellent written and verbal communication in English and Filipino.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Science or related field; Master's preferred.
• 5–7 years of professional cosmetics R&D or product development experience.
• Strong knowledge of cosmetic formulation, ingredient compatibility and stability testing.
• Familiarity with cosmetics regulatory frameworks and safety standards (ASEAN, FDA).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the R&D team to conceptualize, develop and optimize new cosmetic formulations.
• Oversee product testing and QA to meet safety and regulatory standards.
• Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify opportunities for innovation.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and resources for R&D initiatives.
• Collaborate with marketing, sales and regulatory teams to ensure product viability and compliance.
• Develop SOPs for research methodologies and testing protocols.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, ingredients and best practices in cosmetics formulation.
• Document research findings and formulations per industry standards.
• Mentor and develop junior researchers, fostering innovation.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure labeling and safety compliance.

About the role

Dermesse Inc. is seeking an experienced R & D Manager (Cosmetics) to lead our research and development initiatives. In this strategic role, you will oversee the development of innovative cosmetic products, manage research projects, and drive our commitment to quality and safety standards. The R & D Manager will be instrumental in positioning Dermesse Inc. in cosmetics/personal care innovation and product excellence, ensuring that all developments align with industry regulations and consumer needs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the research and development team to conceptualize, develop and optimize new cosmetic formulations
• Oversee product testing and quality assurance protocols to ensure all cosmetic products meet safety and regulatory standards
• Conduct market research and trend analysis to identify opportunities for innovative product development
• Manage project timelines, budgets and resources to ensure efficient delivery of R & D initiatives
• Collaborate with marketing, sales and regulatory teams to ensure product viability and compliance with cosmetics regulations
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for research methodologies and testing protocols
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, ingredients and industry best practices in cosmetics formulation
• Document all research findings, formulations and processes in accordance with industry standards
• Mentor and develop junior research staff, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure compliance with cosmetics safety legislation and labelling requirements

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, Pharmaceutical Science or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred
• Minimum 5-7 years of professional experience in cosmetics R & D, product development or a similar capacity
• Strong knowledge of cosmetic formulation, ingredient compatibility and stability testing
• Familiarity with cosmetics regulatory frameworks and safety standards (e.g., ASEAN cosmetics regulations, FDA guidelines)
• Proven track record of successfully developing and launching cosmetic products to market
• Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
• Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and develop a research team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Filipino
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, testing methodologies and data analysis software
• Preferably, experience with sustainable or eco-friendly cosmetics formulation and development
