The QA Automation Engineer designs and maintains automated test solutions that improve software quality, release confidence, and delivery speed. This role focuses on building and executing automation using Playwright, TypeScript, and AI coding assistants such as Cursor, while validating application behavior across UI, API, and data layers.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on automation engineer who partners effectively with product and development teams in an Agile environment.
Role and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts and reusable frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript.
- Utilize Cursor or similar AI coding assistants to accelerate test development, refactoring, and debugging while maintaining code quality and reliability.
- Build and maintain automated UI, API, and end-to-end test coverage for critical user journeys, integrations, and regression scenarios.
- Validate application behavior through test cases, SQL queries, API checks, and data-driven testing techniques.
- Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps pipelines and support release-readiness decisions through quality metrics and execution results.
- Investigate defects, troubleshoot test failures, and partner with developers to validate fixes and improve automation stability.
- Collaborate with product owners, developers, business analysts, and stakeholders throughout Agile ceremonies to ensure quality is embedded in delivery.
- Contribute to automation standards, framework improvements, and quality engineering best practices across the team.

Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, including at least 3+ years in automation testing
- Practical experience using Cursor or similar AI coding assistants to enhance automation productivity and code quality
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience testing APIs and service integrations
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Git-based workflows, and Agile delivery practices
- Strong analytical, debugging, and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and work across technical and business teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and supporting release quality gates
- Experience building scalable automation frameworks using reusable design patterns, fixtures, utilities, and data-driven approaches
