Job Description
Implements QA/QC programs, conducts inspections, ensures compliance with plans and ITPs, closes punch lists, and maintains quality records.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Review all plans and technical specifications.
- Assist in the preparation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP), Method Statements, and other QA/QC deliverables.
- Assist in documentation, verification, and reporting of activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Conduct regular monitoring inspections of construction activities to identify deviations or non-conformances at an early stage.
- Conduct material delivery inspections for all permanent materials.
- Conduct regular inspections of formwork conditions and material storage to ensure quality and proper condition are maintained.
- Ensure that subcontractors adhere to the Project Quality Plan by conducting inspections of their works and reporting non-conformances for corrective action.
- Monitor the rectification and closure of punch-listed items prior to proceeding to the next activity or handover to the Client.
- Coordinate with the client’s engineers and inspectors for joint inspections.
- Develop work method statements in collaboration with the Operations Team.
- Check subcontractors’ and workers’ activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Prepare internal QA/QC reports for items requiring correction prior to inspection by the Project Management Team and distribute them to the concerned departments.
- Monitor the implementation of necessary corrective actions.
- Call for client inspections of completed Structural, Architectural, or MEPFS works (if applicable) upon internal verification.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Performs quality assurance and quality control on all works and materials through daily observation, measurement, and inspection.
- Ensure that the company’s safety and security program is properly implemented.
- Prepares the necessary documentation as required by the Project Management Team (e.g., IR, IWR, CPR, Handover, Punchlist, Closeout).
- Issues Non-conformance Notice to Operation in charge and subcontractor (direct or nominated) for each non-conformance discovered.
- Notifies the Project Management Team for each non-conformance discovered on the works of Nominated Sub-Contractors for proper issuance of Notice to Comply.
- Witness the material and product testing of subcontractors (direct and nominated).
- Inspects precision tools of incoming receiving parts and source inspection of parts and equipment.
- Witness the turnover and acceptance of Trade Contractors’ works or product.
- Compile and register the QA/QC documents or records for filing, manage handing over and archiving system upon completion of the project.
- Escalate all observed major quality issues to immediate superior or QA/QC Manager.
The QA/QC Engineer has the authority to:
- Stop work when continuing work may adversely affect quality or cover up a defect.
- Prevent the use of equipment or materials that may adversely affect quality.
- Direct the removal or replacement of any non-conforming work, equipment, or material.
- Suspend work and/or supply of materials as deemed necessary to assure quality.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
Educational Attainment:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or any related field.
- Professional license is an advantage.
- Materials Engineer I or II certification is a plus.
Work Experience:
- At least two (1-2) years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in quality assurance and quality control.
- Experience in infrastructure projects is an advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of quality control standards.
- Knowledge of material testing requirements and procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings.
Skills Required:
- Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions.
- Strong communication skills with employees, teams, and senior management.
