Job Description
The QA Analyst/Chemist is responsible for conducting laboratory and quality testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with company quality, food safety, and regulatory standards. The position performs physico-chemical analyses, monitors laboratory equipment and water quality, prepares laboratory reports and Certificates of Analysis, and supports the implementation of GMP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, and other quality management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct physico-chemical testing such as pH, salt, moisture, and fat analysis.
- Perform sampling and testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished products.
- Prepare and standardize laboratory reagents and solutions.
- Monitor, verify, maintain, and coordinate calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Monitor daily water quality, including chlorine residual and pH.
- Prepare and submit accurate laboratory test results and Certificates of Analysis (COA).
- Maintain laboratory records, inventory, supplies, equipment, and samples.
- Immediately report failed, out-of-specification, and critical quality or food safety results.
- Conduct routine production floor inspections and monitor compliance with GMP, GHP, HACCP, CCPs, OPRPs, and sanitation requirements.
- Assist in investigations of non-conformities, product complaints, and food safety incidents, including root cause analysis and CAPA.
- Assist in internal, supplier, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Conduct finished product quality checks, including visual inspection, packaging integrity, coding, labeling, and documentation review.
- Support environmental hygiene, sanitation, pest control, and food safety programs.
- Assist in maintaining and improving QMS, HACCP, and FSSC 22000 documentation.
- Recommend improvements to laboratory procedures and quality processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Microbiology, Biology, or a related field.
- Licensed/Registered Chemist or Chemical Engineer is preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in Quality Assurance and Laboratory Operations, preferably in a food manufacturing company.
- Knowledge and experience in physico-chemical laboratory testing such as pH, salt, moisture, and fat analysis.
- Working knowledge of GMP, GHP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, QMS, and food safety requirements.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment operation, verification, calibration, sampling, and documentation.
- Proficient in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Willing to work in a food manufacturing and production environment.
