Job summary

WP/DPC Health Promotion, Disease Prevention and Control seeks a public health specialist to advance health equity and the social determinants of health. You will coordinate national health policies, develop guidelines, and engage with partners to strengthen health systems.

Qualifications

• Essential: a university degree in public health or social sciences or health sciences.
• Desirable: advanced degree in public health, sociology, gender, equity, human rights.
• Essential: at least five years' experience in public health and health inequity programmes.
• Experience with social determinants of health and gender, human rights and equity mainstreaming.

Responsibilities

• Provide input to the work program on health equity and social determinants.
• Undertakes research to inform public health programmes.
• Draft and revise public health guidelines and national strategies.
• Monitor work plans and budgets and mobilize resources.
• Conduct data analyses and share best practices.
• Coordinate community outreach to extend health-care networks.
• Serve as a technical resource on communicable diseases.
• Produce technical briefs and reports on SDH issues.
• Coordinate social determinants policies to promote health equity.
• Network with partners and WHO offices for joint initiatives.
• Prepare concept notes and oral communications.
