About the job Production Coordinator (Fabrication Team Lead)
The Production Coordinator supports and guides Supervisors and Contractors to deliver safe, timely, and high-quality work. This role ensures that production teams are equipped with clear plans, materials, and resources to execute tasks efficiently and in full compliance with project, safety, and quality standards.
The Coordinator acts as a visible leader, promoting continuous improvement and accountability across all levels.
Key objectives & responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and communicate detailed production plans
- Ensure timely availability of information, materials, equipment, and workforce
- Monitor performance against production KPIs and implement corrective actions
- Lead coordination across departments to support schedule and deliverables
- Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, including JSEA, incident reporting, and hazard control
- Support cost control by monitoring labor, material usage, and scrap rates
- Promote high housekeeping, safety, and environmental standards
- Track and support quality metrics, audits, and compliance with Austal standards
- Assess and manage Supervisor and team performance, training needs, and development
- Foster a strong team culture built on accountability, leadership, and collaboration
Essential
Required Skills / Experience / Attributes:
- Graduate of any relevant course or degree
- Minimum 5 years' experience in shipbuilding construction management
- Strong analytical skills, work planning, and scheduling.
- Cost management.
- Computer literate.
- Proven leadership and management abilities
Desirable
- Knowledge and experience of Austal construction methods.
- ISO standards (Quality, HSE, and Environment)
- Relevant licenses or certifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Project Management Skills
