The Product Development Officer is responsible for managing the development of baby care, personal care, and intimate care, from concept to launch. This includes market research, formulation coordination, supplier management, regulatory compliance, costing, packaging development, and production coordination.
The Product Development Officer oversees end-to-end product development to ensure innovative, high-quality, market-ready products aligned with brand objectives and consumer trend.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Development
- Develop new baby care, personal care, and intimate care product concepts based on market trends, consumer needs and product story telling.
- Coordinate with suppliers, formulators, and manufacturers for product development.
- Evaluate product samples, formulations, fragrances, textures, and packaging.
- Conduct competitor benchmarking and trend research.
2. Market & Trend Analysis
- Monitor and updated on the industry trends, competitor products, sale prices, innovations and aligned with updated regulatory requirements.
- identify gaps and opportunities in the market.
- Translate insights into products concepts and positioning.
- Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials and finished goods.
- Request and assess product samples, technical documents, and quotations, ensuring prototypes and/or mock-ups are accurately verified before mass production.
- Negotiate cost, MOQ, and lead times.
4. Regulatory & Compliances
- Ensure products comply with local and international regulations (e.g., Food and Drug Administration, ASEAN guidelines).
- Review ingredient lists, claims, and labeling requirements ensuring accuracy.
- Coordinate product registration and documentation.
5. Product Testing & Quality Assurance
- Conduct stability, safety, and performance testing.
- Evaluate product efficacy and consumer acceptability.
- Work with QA/QC teams to ensure consistency and quality standards.
6. Project Management
- Manage product development timelines from concept to launch.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, merchandising, production).
7. Packaging Development
- Collaborate on packaging design, materials, and functionality.
- Ensure packaging aligns with branding and regulatory requirements.
- Optimize cost and sustainability.
8. Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare reports, presentations, and product briefs.
- Track product performance post-launch.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in any related field.
- With at least 1 year experience in product development (FMCG, baby category, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or similar).
- Knowledge of formulation, ingredients, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
