Job summary

Cambridge University Press & Assessment in Manila invites a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, integration and governance of data solutions for our Education Technology products and services. The role operates in a hybrid setup with two in-office days, Monday to Friday schedule, and overlaps UK hours.

It requires advanced SQL, data modelling and cloud experience, strong stakeholder, mentoring and architectural skills, and offers a permanent position with competitive pay and growth

Qualifications

• Significant experience in data engineering and enterprise-scale data solutions.
• Advanced SQL, data modelling, ETL/ELT, and cloud-based data platforms.
• Experience with APIs, integration platforms, event-driven patterns, and architectural guidance.
• Desirable: Azure/AWS data services and Power Platform.
• Knowledge of data governance, security and privacy considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, integrations, data models and analytical data services.
• Define data engineering standards, architecture patterns and integration approaches across data domains.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and architectural guidance to data teams.
• Lead investigations, POCs and escalations for complex data engineering and platform issues.
• Ensure solutions support data quality, lineage, privacy, governance and enterprise architecture expectations.

Pay range: Php 104,000 to Php 142,000

What will you do as a Senior Data Engineer?

Reporting to the Head of Technical Consulting and Analysis, your accountabilities will include:

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, integrations, data models and analytical data services.
• Define data engineering standards, architecture patterns, integration approaches and best practices across the data domain.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and design guidance to Data Analysts, Data Engineers, Power Platform Developers and project teams.
• Lead investigations, proof‑of‑concepts and escalations for complex data engineering, integration and platform issues.
• Ensure solutions support data quality, lineage, privacy, security, governance and enterprise architecture expectations.

An ideal candidate has the following qualities:

Essential:

• Significant experience in data engineering, data integration or related technical roles, including enterprise‑scale data solutions.
• Advanced SQL, data modelling, ETL/ELT, integration and cloud‑based data platform knowledge.
• Experience working with APIs, integration platforms, event‑driven architecture and modern data‑engineering patterns.
• Ability to define technical standards, lead solution design and provide architectural guidance across multiple initiatives.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, mentoring, analytical and decision‑making skills.

Desirable:

• Experience with Microsoft Azure data services, AWS data and analytics services, Dataverse or the Microsoft Power Platform.
• Knowledge of Power BI semantic modelling, data warehouse or lakehouse design, CI/CD and DevOps practices for data solutions.
• Experience with domain‑driven design, education, assessment or Professional Development sector contexts.
