Role Overview
Physician Credentialing Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Physician Credentialing Support Specialist to assist the U.S.-based credentialing team with facility credentialing, hospital privileging, provider enrollment, document collection, application preparation, verification activities, and credentialing-file completion for physicians and advanced practice providers.

Direct experience with U.S. hospital/facility credentialing is strongly preferred. Experience with payer credentialing and provider enrollment is a significant plus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with initial credentialing and recredentialing of physicians, PAs, and NPs for hospitals and healthcare facilities.
  • Obtain credentialing applications, enter provider information into hospital portals, prepare applications for provider review/signature, and track outstanding requirements.
  • Complete or assist with demographic, education, training, employment, hospital affiliation, licensure, DEA, board certification, malpractice, disclosure, and work-history sections of credentialing applications.
  • Collect and organize required documents including licenses, DEA certificates, controlled-substance registrations, diplomas, residency/fellowship certificates, board certification, CVs, malpractice certificates, claims history, required certifications, IDs, W-9s, NPI information, and professional references.
  • Communicate directly with physicians and APPs to obtain missing documents, signatures, attestations, explanations, updated CVs, licenses, DEA certificates, and reference information.
  • Assist with peer-reference collection by obtaining contacts, sending requests, following up, tracking completion, and escalating delays.
  • Support primary-source verification workflows where permitted, including license, board certification, education, training, employment, hospital affiliation, sanctions/exclusion, and other required verifications.
  • Review credentialing checklists, identify missing or expiring items, organize files, and help credentialers prepare complete files for final review.
  • Follow up with hospital medical staff offices and track application status, committee dates, approvals, effective dates, and outstanding barriers.
  • Maintain detailed credentialing trackers and proactively identify files at risk of delaying provider start dates.
Payer Credentialing / Provider Enrollment - Preferred
  • Medicare enrollment and PECOS.
  • Medicaid enrollment.
  • Commercial payer enrollment and recredentialing.
  • CAQH profile setup, maintenance, document uploads, and re-attestation.
  • Payer roster submissions, additions, terminations, revalidation, and status follow-up.
  • Effective-date tracking and EFT/ERA enrollment where applicable.
Credentialing Software And Technical Skills
  • Experience with credentialing software or the ability to quickly learn systems such as Modio, symplr, VerityStream, Medallion, CredentialStream, QGenda credentialing tools, CAQH ProView, hospital credentialing portals, and payer portals.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including credentialing trackers, sorting/filtering, conditional formatting, date/expiration tracking, basic formulas, and large provider lists.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneDrive.
Preferred Experience
  • U.S. hospital medical staff credentialing and privileging.
  • Physician-group or locum tenens credentialing.
  • Facility privileging and physician onboarding.

  • Professional written and verbal English.
  • Ability to communicate with U.S. physicians, hospital medical staff offices, and internal credentialers.
  • Strong follow-up skills and the ability to manage multiple credentialing files simultaneously.
  • Ability to handle confidential provider information in accordance with company privacy and security policies.
HIPAA / Confidentiality

The specialist must maintain strict confidentiality, complete required privacy/HIPAA training, use only company-authorized systems, follow secure document-management procedures, and never transfer confidential provider information to unauthorized personal devices or accounts.
