Job summary

Vienna University of Economics and Business (ISSET) seeks a PhD Researcher to join the ÖAW-funded project on School and Residential Segregation. The role focuses on analyzing large-scale Austrian administrative data to uncover drivers of educational and socio-spatial inequality.

You will develop quantitative analyses, collaborate with project leaders, and contribute to papers while working 20 hours per week for 18 months.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Economics, Sociology, or a closely related quantitative empirical discipline.
• Strong foundation in applied statistics or econometrics and empirical research methods.
• Advanced proficiency in R for data management and econometric analysis; write clean, reproducible code.
• Excellent English skills; German skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Engage with literature on segregation and design empirical research leveraging Austrian administrative data.
• Draft and co-author academic papers for peer‑reviewed journals.
• Present findings at seminars, workshops, and conferences.
