1. Customer Service: Assisting customers by answering questions, providing basic information about over-the-counter medications, and directing them to a pharmacist for more detailed inquiries.
2. Prescription Handling: Receiving prescriptions from customers, checking them for accuracy, and preparing medications for pharmacist review. They may also be responsible for labeling medication bottles.
3. Inventory Management: Monitoring stock levels, restocking shelves, and keeping track of expired medications. Pharmacy assistants may also assist in ordering new stock.
4. Dispensing Medications: While they don’t typically dispense prescription drugs, pharmacy assistants may help prepare certain medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, especially for less complex tasks like measuring liquids or counting pills.
