Job summary

Avensys Consulting is seeking an experienced Payment Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a major banking transformation initiative. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in payment processing, settlements, and core banking operations, with experience in Finastra Global PAYplus (GPP) or similar enterprise payment platforms.

This role will be responsible for driving the payment systems strategy, supporting solution design and implementation, and creating an end-to-end transformation

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Payment Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a major banking transformation initiative. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in payment processing, settlements, and core banking operations, with experience in Finastra Global PAYplus (GPP) or similar enterprise payment platforms.

This role will be responsible for driving the payment systems strategy, supporting solution design and implementation, and creating an end-to-end transformation roadmap across multiple lines of business. The successful candidate will combine strong functional knowledge of payments with the ability to influence strategic decision-making within a complex banking environment.

Work Setup: Hybrid (3 days onsite)

Employment Type: 12-Month Contract

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the SME for enterprise payment systems and payment transformation initiatives.
• Define and drive the overall payments strategy aligned with business, operational, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and maintain the payment modernization roadmap and master plan across the organization.
• Provide expertise on end-to-end payment processing, clearing, and settlement workflows.
• Collaborate with business, operations, technology, and vendor teams to deliver payment-related projects.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into solution and process recommendations.
• Support solution design, implementation, testing, migration, and go-live activities.
• Ensure seamless integration between payment platforms, core banking systems, and external payment networks.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Provide guidance on industry best practices, emerging payment technologies, and regulatory changes.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience as a Payments SME, Payment Business Analyst, Payments Consultant, or Payments Product Specialist within the banking industry.
• Strong experience with Finastra Global PAYplus (GPP) or comparable enterprise payment platforms such as FIS, ACI Worldwide, Temenos Payments Hub, Volante, or similar solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of payment processing and settlement mechanisms.
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end banking operations and core banking systems.
• Experience delivering payment modernization, migration, or banking transformation programs.
• Ability to create strategic roadmaps and enterprise-wide payment plans.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working across business and technology teams in a complex banking environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with payment hub implementations or payment transformation initiatives.
• Knowledge of ISO 20022 messaging standards.
• Experience with real-time payments and digital payment ecosystems.
• Exposure to regional or international banking environments.
• Experience supporting large-scale banking transformation programs.
