Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM Pacific Time

Job Overview:

We are looking for a Part-Time Senior Accountant / Accounting Lead to take ownership of accounting operations across a holding company and its acquired businesses. The role will be responsible for maintaining accurate books, managing reconciliations, AP/AR, payroll support, month-end close, and financial reporting across multiple entities.

The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional with strong U.S. bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting knowledge, hands-on QuickBooks experience, and the ability to work independently across different accounting systems and existing processes. Strong communication skills are essential, as the role will involve working directly with business owners and accounting professionals to understand existing books, resolve outstanding items, and support smooth accounting transitions following acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate, up-to-date books for the holding company and acquired businesses.
• Record transactions, prepare journal entries, and maintain the general ledger.
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Complete month-end close activities and prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
• Support payroll setup and ongoing administration through Gusto and other payroll platforms.
• Work across QuickBooks and Quicken, adapting to each business’s existing processes.
• Participate in knowledge-transfer calls with firm owners to understand their books, workflows, and outstanding items.
• Organize accounting records, document procedures, and ensure a smooth transition following acquisitions.
• Communicate progress, flag issues promptly, and assist with related financial administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Lead, or an experienced full-charge bookkeeper.
• Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and U.S. bookkeeping practices.
• Hands-on experience with QuickBooks.
• Experience with Quicken, or the ability to learn it quickly.
• Experience supporting U.S. payroll; familiarity with Gusto or Paychex is preferred.
• Ability to manage accounting for multiple entities while keeping records accurate and organized.
• Strong English communication skills and confidence participating in calls with business owners and accounting professionals.
• Ability to take ownership, meet deadlines, and resolve routine accounting issues independently.
• Reliable internet connection and a professional remote working setup.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with U.S. accounting or CPA firms.
• Experience taking over books from an existing owner or accounting team.
• Familiarity with accounting transitions following a business acquisition.
• A degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA credentials are a plus.
