Job summary

Amentum is seeking an Assistant Fire Chief of Prevention to support a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role leads fire prevention programs, oversees NFPA compliance, and directs a multinational team of inspectors to protect personnel and critical infrastructure.

The position requires expert knowledge of fire prevention standards, strong leadership, and the ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders while maintaining deployment readiness and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years experience leading an F&ES fire prevention section or division in a similar sized fire department.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as Fire Inspector III and Plans Examiner I or equivalent qualifications.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills with multi-national supervision ability.
• Must pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for deployment.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing fire prevention programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards.
• Leading and managing the Fire Prevention section and NFPA compliance.
• Developing, administering, and promoting fire prevention and public safety education programs.
• Leading inspection programs to ensure compliance with fire requirements.
• Reviewing construction designs and system installations for fire code compliance.
• Conducting fire hazard assessments and mitigation planning.
• Managing fire investigations and applying findings to strengthen programs.
• Supervising a multi-national team of fire inspectors and providing guidance.
• Ensuring readiness of inspection, investigation, and prevention programs for mission needs.
• Preparing and maintaining reports on inspections, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Liaising between fire department, external agencies, and stakeholders.
