Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or one to two years' related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must meet current No Child Left Behind (NCLB) requirements.
• Prior successful experience working in a school setting or with children strongly preferred.
• Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others from diverse backgrounds.
• Language Skills: Fluent English in speaking and writing.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform basic computations.
• Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to follow schedules and instructions.
• Computer Skills: Proficient with MS Office and school information systems.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPR/First Aid and district certifications as required.

Responsibilities

• Follows and maintains knowledge of applicable District policies and procedures.
• Assists students individually or in groups with lessons (reading, math, writing).
• Assists in testing and evaluating students' abilities and progress.
• Maintains records, attendance, and classroom materials.
• Supervises students during classroom, recess, and lunch times.
• Transports students between activities and settings.
• Assists staff in preparing educational materials and paperwork.
• Maintains safe environment for students at all times.
