Job summary

AboitizPower seeks a seasoned Outage & Projects CoE to lead planning, execution and review of maintenance programs for power plants, optimizing outages and generation availability with NGCP, PGPC, ERC and DOE.

You will shape long-term asset lifecycle strategies, develop 5–10 year equipment roadmaps and work with Operations and Maintenance to deliver reliable, safe performance while driving continuous improvement and positive community impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Registered Mechanical/Electrical Engineer.
• 7+ years experience; with at least 5 years in geothermal, thermal or significant relevant experience.
• At least 3 years (management or supervisory) experience.

Responsibilities

• Cascades the directions and objectives set by Tier 1 for short- and long-term strategies and action plans.
• Directs and monitors safe and efficient implementation of policies, standards and guidelines (outage management).
• Oversees, reviews and manages coordination with stakeholders for short/long outages and optimized plans.
• Recommends optimized outage plans, schedules and implementations.
• Oversees CPM Schedule using Smartsheet Workapps, MS Project or similar during inspections and outages.
• Reviews planned vs actual variance and adequacy of resources and logistics.
• Oversees post-outage reviews conducted by CMS, RCM and PROD planners.

Education

Job description

As Outage & Projects CoE , you will be responsible for Power Plants planning, implementing and review of maintenance programs, such as short-term and long-term planned and emergency outages, to optimize the generation availability in coordination with internal and external stakeholders, i.e., NGCP, PGPC, ERC, DOE. Moreover, he/she is responsible for the continuous improvement of the outage strategies by keeping up-to-date with latest developments in the geothermal and power industry maintenance programs

The incumbent shall functionally manage all planning groups across the Operations Division group, coordinate and improve the Outage Management guidelines aligned to the Aboitiz Power outage management program. He/she shall strategize long-term asset lifecycle processes and develop a 5-10 year equipment roadmap to ensure reliable and highly available operation of the facilities and contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with Operations and Maintenance Team to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Cascades the directions and objectives set by the Tier 1 for the preparation of detailed strategies and action plans for the short and long term plans
• Directs and monitors safe and efficient implementation of established policies, standards and guidelines, e.g., Outage management, etc.
• Oversees, reviews and manages with the stakeholders:
• the coordination of the short term and long-term outages and;
• the recommendation on optimized plans, schedules and implementations.
• Oversees, reviews, and manages the CPM Schedule using the Smartsheet Workapps, MS Project or similar collaboration and management software, during major and minor inspections and emergency outages to optimize recoverable costs, revenue generation and minimize unplanned outages.
• Review and evaluate the implementation and performance of the outage execution by:
• monitoring the planned versus actual variance by using the Smartsheet Dashboard or relevant similar collaboration and management software;
• adequacy of maintenance resources and logistics;

• in consultation with the Stakeholders.
• Oversees post outage review conducted by CMS, RCM and PROD planners and project management teams

Budget Management & Development

• Define and manage a "risk-based contingency fund," justifying the allocation of emergency capital for discovery work (unforeseen repairs found during teardown).
• Implement cost-tracking mechanisms during active outages to monitor labor hours, equipment rentals, and "per diem" expenses against the baseline budget.
• Identify, document, and report any cost variances exceeding 5% of the project baseline, providing immediate mitigation strategies to the executive team.
• Build "bottom-up" estimates for labor, materials, and specialized services for standard OH & Non Standard OH, moving away from historical averages to reflect real-time market fluctuations.
• Lead the development and implementation of the Annual Procurement Plan (APP), ensuring its execution and associated costs are aligned with the plan.
• Develops and implements budget management systems that will support the operations and maintenance requirement of the facilities and reviews financial reports, expenditures against annual budget and latest updated forecast.
• Identify opportunities for "Value Engineering"—finding alternative technical solutions or materials that reduce cost without compromising asset integrity or safety.
• Develop and implement an optimized "Spares & Rotables" strategy that balances minimizing "carrying costs" on the balance sheet with ensuring the ready availability of critical parts to effectively prevent costly operational downtime.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain to negotiate long-term agreements (LTAs) for recurring outage needs to hedge against inflation and supply chain volatility.
• act as the final "gate-keeper" for the Outage Scope & PPMG/PMO evaluate every project against a Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) to ensure only mission-critical tasks are funded.
• Support Life Cycle Management Plan to maximize an asset's lifetime ROI by balancing initial costs with maintenance to minimize the total cost of ownership, while strategically timing replacements to mitigate risks and prevent operational failure.

ADMINISTRATION AND SAFETY

• Ensures operational safety of equipment and auxiliaries under the maintenance department.
• Implements and ensures strict compliance to safety, security, health and environmental policies.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT AND HUMAN RESOURCES

• Recommends training / seminars to all planners to enhance their knowledge and competencies.
• Develops strategies towards human resource optimization.
• Reviews, recommends and/or approves hiring/staffing of personnel (direct hire or agency hired).
• Reviews and evaluates work performance of direct reports.
