On behalf of our client, we are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Waste Management Operations Manager to join the organization. The job will report in Ortigas, Philippines.

Job Summary:

The Waste Management Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and monitoring of waste collection, disposal, recycling, and treatment operations. The role ensures compliance with environmental regulations, promotes sustainable practices, and manages resources efficiently to achieve operational excellence in line with company and government standards.

Main responsibilities:

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily waste collection, segregation, hauling, treatment, and disposal activities.
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations (DENR, LGU ordinances, RA 9003 - Ecological Solid Waste Management Act).
  • Monitor facility performance, equipment utilization, and route efficiency.
  • Implement waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability initiatives.

Strategic & Process Improvement

  • Develop and optimize waste management processes to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
  • Identify opportunities for recycling, energy recovery, and resource efficiency.
  • Ensure safe and sustainable handling of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.

Financial & Resource Management

  • Prepare and manage budgets for waste management operations.
  • Monitor expenditures and implement cost control measures.
  • Oversee procurement and maintenance of trucks, equipment, and facilities.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of waste generation, disposal, and recycling volumes.
  • Prepare regular compliance reports for internal management and government agencies.
  • Ensure all permits, licenses, and environmental clearances are up to date.

People & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and supervise waste management teams, drivers, and facility operators.
  • Provide training on safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Coordinate with LGUs, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth operations.
  • Address customer and community concerns related to waste services.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental/Industrial Engineering, Waste Management, or related field.
  • Numerous years of relevant experience in waste management, environmental operations, or facilities management, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory/managerial role
  • Knowledge of RA 9003, DENR guidelines, and other waste/environmental compliance standards.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with construction waste, industrial waste, or hazardous waste management is an advantage.
  • Licensed Engineer or Environmental Practitioner certification is a plus.
