Job summary

Rappler is seeking an experienced OSINT Researcher to join its digital forensics team in Manila. The role focuses on digital forensics, OSINT research, and data-driven investigations to identify disinformation trends and provide actionable intelligence.

The candidate will monitor trends, collect data from multiple sources, and produce intelligence reports, research papers, and marketing content for data consultancy services. Proficiency in data visualization tools is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in digital forensics, OSINT research, or data-driven investigative research.
  • Proficiency with OSINT tools and managing multiple data sources to generate actionable insights.
  • Proven track record of producing research papers, intelligence reports, or data-driven investigative stories.
  • Strong data storytelling and visualization skills using modern tools such as Flourish or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of Python or R for automating data collection and analysis is a plus.
  • Fluent in English and Tagalog; highly organized and capable of presenting complex information clearly.

Responsibilities

This role plays a critical part in executing digital forensics and investigative research to uncover disinformation trends and provide actionable intelligence.

Key responsibilities
  • Execute digital forensics and OSINT research for both revenue and editorial use-cases using established and emerging methodologies.
  • Actively monitor and analyze research trends from internal, academic, and industry sources to continuously improve research methods.
  • Gather and collate data for disinformation research, coordinating with government agencies and institutional sources when necessary.
  • Support the implementation of processes for capturing, processing, storing, and analyzing data to generate high-impact stories and research papers.
  • Propose, write, and help produce intelligence reports, research papers, and marketing content for data consultancy services.
  • Design and implement data visualizations and other technical data projects using the latest available technologies.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in digital forensics, OSINT research, or data-driven investigative research preferred.
