Job summary

Directed Electronics Australia is seeking an Online Merchandiser to optimise our group of eCommerce sites and marketplace listings. You will partner with Digital & Marketing to improve product content, SEO, and merchandising execution across brands.

You will manage product pages, optimize navigation, run A/B tests, and collaborate with design, operations and IT to drive online sales and improve conversion rates.

Experience with Shopify/Magento and Google Analytics is preferred.

Our Digital team plays an essential role in leading all the eCommerce, marketplaces, digital marketing, web development and creative production activities at the Directed Group. This team owns the strategy and execution of the eCommerce, marketplace and digital marketing plan to drive sales for the group. It also conceptualises, creates and executes all design material to support business wide activity for all brands and divisions.

Led by the GM – Digital & Marketing the team is mandated to create eCommerce & Marketplace sales and profit initiatives across the groups diverse online brand presence, with a specific focus on building brands digitally to maximise awareness and create positive brand reputation. It also supports key stakeholders across the Directed Group globally to drive engagement, efficiency and effectiveness by designing and project managing creative material suitable for a specific business purpose.

Role objective and areas of focus.

The primary objective of the Online Merchandiser is to optimise the Directed Electronics group of eCommerce websites to ensure their execution and performance meet business objectives.

The role will be an integral contributor to the company’s success, maintaining close relationships with stakeholders across the Directed Group, external parties and working cross functionally to provide support for the successful delivery of projects.

The role will focus on the following areas:

  • Product Presentation & Content Optimisation
  • Merchandising Execution
  • PIM - Product Information Management
Key responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Online Merchandiser will include, but are not limited to:

Product Presentation & Content Optimisation
  • Manage and optimize product listings, ensuring accurate descriptions, images, pricing, and categorization.
  • Enhance product visibility through SEO-driven titles, keywords, and metadata.
  • Work closely with designers and content teams to ensure visually appealing and engaging product pages.
  • Conduct A/B testing on product pages, descriptions, and layouts to improve conversions.
  • Develop and execute A+ content as required for marketplace listings including but not limited to store fronts, videos etc
  • Troubleshooting and support as required.
  • Reporting performance against critical KPI’s as required.
Merchandising Execution
  • Develop and implement digital merchandising strategies that drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Create and maintain category structures, filters, and navigation for an intuitive user experience.
  • Plan and execute promotional strategies, including homepage banners, landing pages, and seasonal campaigns.
  • Optimize cross-selling and upselling opportunities through recommendations and bundling strategies.
  • Reporting as required across conversion rates, bounce rates, product page views, checkout funnel and more. Using a mixture of Google Analytics, Amazon Analytics, heatmaps, CRO tools like Hotjar and more.
  • Run CRO enhancements to drive conversion rate improvements on websites.
  • Ad tasks as required.
PIM – Product Information Management
  • Ensure consistency in product merchandising across owned eCommerce sites and third-party marketplaces (Amazon, eBay,)
  • Plan, deliver and execute all product and image information so that our PIM can stay up to date and used widely. Be one of the key managers of the PIM system.
  • Work with supply chain and operations teams to maintain accurate stock levels and availability messaging.
  • Keep up with marketplace algorithms and merchandising trends to maximize exposure and sales.
  • Capture and input data for website launches or replatform requirements.

  • Consulting with respective managers, cross functional divisions and your team to understand requirements that are to be briefed, delivered or reviewed.
  • Creating and deploying programs to drive sales and conversion.
  • Troubleshooting as required.
  • Checking data and trends on performance. Taking action as required.
  • Competitor, SOH, price analysis and monitoring. Take action as required.
  • Keyword analysis, product listing & SEO for listings.
  • Content creation for listings.
  • Managing daily requirements for critical projects.
  • Optimise product listings.
  • Run AB Tests
A typical week
  • Liaising with respective managers, cross functional divisions and your teams to provide project status and updates.
  • Connecting with different teams impacted by change for feedback and learning opportunities.
  • Prioritising online operations requirements.
  • Deploying and reviewing programs to achieve sales and traffic targets.
  • Managing agency and 3rd party provider requirements.
  • Executing page enhancements
  • Executing stock and price changes as required
  • Executing promotion launches and take down
