Job summary

Orro Philippines is hiring a Network Security Engineer Level 1. You will monitor, triage and resolve issues across firewall and SSE platforms, with Level 2 engineers backing you.

This is a brand-new team supporting large Australian enterprise clients, offering a path to growth while balancing life outside of work. Join a hybrid setup with 2–3 days onsite per month, onboarding and hands-on training across Cisco, Zscaler, Check Point and Fortinet sources, plus Terraform and Ansible.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years’ hands-on experience in network security or operations.
• Experience with MSP environments and SLA-based multi-client support.
• Strong fundamentals in TCP/IP, DNS, routing, ports and troubleshooting.
• Experience monitoring alerts, triaging issues, and documenting escalations.
• Operational experience with enterprise firewalls or SSE platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Willingness to work a rotating 24x7 shift as the team grows.

Responsibilities

• Monitor alerts across firewall and SSE environments, triaging issues and responding within SLAs.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and access issues across TCP/IP, DNS, routing and ports.
• Review firewall and Zscaler logs to confirm traffic permissions.
• Follow runbooks and manage tickets through resolution with proper documentation.
• Escalate to Level 2 engineers when issues exceed Level 1 scope.
• Build capability across firewall, SSE and automation toward Level 2.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Monitor alerts across customer firewall and SSE environments, triaging issues and responding within agreed SLAs
• Troubleshoot connectivity and access issues across TCP/IP, DNS, routing and ports, identifying whether the cause is network, policy or application
• Review firewall and Zscaler logs to confirm whether traffic is permitted or blocked
• Follow runbooks and manage tickets through to resolution or escalation, with clear and complete documentation
• Escalate to Level 2 engineers promptly when issues go beyond Level 1 scope
• Build your capability across firewall, SSE and automation, working towards Level 2

What You’ll Bring

The Essentials

• At least 2 years’ hands-on experience in network security or network operations, supporting production environments
• Experience working for a Managed Services Provider (MSP), supporting multiple external clients under SLA
• Solid network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, routing, ports and structured troubleshooting
• Experience monitoring alerts, triaging issues, following runbooks, and documenting and escalating clearly
• Basic operational experience with either enterprise firewalls or SSE platforms. Experience across both is preferred, but not mandatory
• Strong written and verbal English, able to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Willingness to work a rotating 24x7 shift pattern, including nights, weekends and public holidays, as the team grows

Bonus Points

• Exposure to Zscaler (ZIA, ZPA)
• Exposure to Cisco FTD and/or Check Point
• Experience with Netskope, Cisco SSE, Fortinet or Palo Alto
• Wireshark, VPN basics, or Terraform/Ansible
• ITSM tools and ITIL-based change management
