Job summary

IBM Consulting is seeking an Infrastructure Specialist in Platform Engineering Services to act as a trusted advisor to Client IT, delivering high-quality infrastructure support, security, and risk management, and ensuring SLAs and compliance.

You will analyze incidents, provision and migrate infrastructure, conduct risk assessments, and manage operations to keep networks secure, available, and performing optimally for enterprise clients worldwide.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in network engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco routing, switching, and troubleshooting.
• Experience configuring NextGen Firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point, Cisco Firepower).
• Knowledge of firewall policies, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control.
• Experience with IaC and network automation tools like Terraform, Ansible.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or GCP networking.
• Ability to monitor, maintain, and optimize network performance, availability, and security.

Your Role And Responsibilities

As an Infrastructure Specialist in Platform Engineering Services, you will act as a trusted advisor to Client IT, providing expertise in infrastructure, security, and risk management. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure high-quality technical support, meeting Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and adhering to process compliance.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include

• Analyze and Resolve Incidents: Analyze and resolve infrastructure-related incidents, minimizing downtime and ensuring prompt restoration of services. This involves identifying root causes, implementing fixes, and verifying resolution.
• Provision and Deploy Infrastructure: Provision, deploy, configure, and migrate infrastructure products to meet client needs, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption to services.
• Conduct Risk Assessments: Conduct business impact analyses and risk assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance overall IT resilience.
• Manage and Support Infrastructure: Manage and support infrastructure products, ensuring they are running at optimal levels, meeting performance and security requirements, and adhering to process compliance.
• Ensure Process Compliance: Ensure that all infrastructure-related activities are performed in accordance with established processes and procedures, meeting SLAs and regulatory requirements.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Network Engineering, supporting enterprise network infrastructure.
• Strong hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies, including routing, switching, and troubleshooting.
• Experience managing and configuring NextGen Firewalls such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point, Cisco Firepower, or similar firewall security solutions.
• Knowledge of network security concepts, including firewall policies, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and network automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Ability to monitor, maintain, and optimize network performance, availability, and security.
