Job summary

eBay is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to design and operate scalable ML backends and platforms that power personalized shopping experiences. You will build data pipelines, train and serve models, and implement robust MLOps to keep systems robust at scale.

You will collaborate with researchers and product teams to turn prototypes into production-grade solutions that are low-latency and highly available across a global audience.

Qualifications

• Requires MS in CS or equivalent with 5+ years in ML/AI/Data Eng.
• Expert in production engineering practices and OO languages (Scala/Java/Python).
• Extensive experience with big data frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, Flink).
• Experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch) in production and serving.
• Proven ability to build CI/CD pipelines for ML models and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure) and REST/gRPC APIs.
• Ability to design live, 24/7 production ML systems with monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend and ML systems for sponsored experiences, ranking, retrieval, and personalization.
• Own MLOps pipelines for CI/CD, training, validation, and monitoring of production models.
• Construct robust data pipelines for model training and feature engineering.
• Implement and optimize ML models and GenAI for low latency in production.
• Collaborate with researchers to translate experiments into production code.
• Promote software engineering best practices within the ML team.
• Monitor performance, resolve issues, and improve reliability and efficiency.
