Job summary

Axos Business Center seeks a Data Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable data pipelines on the Databricks platform. You will ingest data from enterprise systems, apply data-quality checks, and produce trusted Delta Lake tables for analytics and data science.

You will work with analysts, data scientists, and governance leads to translate requirements into robust pipelines, ensuring reliability, documentation, and cost efficiency across production systems.

Qualifications

• Databricks Certified Data Engineer with 3+ years of hands-on Databricks experience (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows, PySpark, Databricks SQL)
• Strong SQL with window functions, incremental/merge patterns, and performance tuning on large tables
• Python for data engineering (PySpark or pandas), API integration, and file processing
• Experience running pipelines in production: monitoring, incident handling, root-cause analysis, and documentation
• Clear, concise communication; ability to document status updates and keep stakeholders informed
• Team player across sites/time zones and eager to learn and grow with the platform

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate batch and incremental data pipelines on Databricks using Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Databricks Workflows, PySpark, and SQL
• Ingest data from enterprise systems, SaaS platforms, files, and APIs; apply data-quality checks and business rules to produce certified, well-modeled tables
• Write efficient SQL and Python; tune performance; follow medallion architecture and standards
• Implement monitoring, runbooks, and recovery procedures for production pipelines
• Participate in code review, version control, CI/CD, and production promotion; document what you build
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and governance leads on designing pipelines; ensure proper data handling and access controls
• Use approved AI-assisted tools to accelerate development with careful review of generated code
• Contribute to team standards and mentor teammates
