Job description

• Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines; Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment.
• Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production; part repairer of an engine part that is no longer working properly and can still be replaced.
• Reads and understands the specifications or blueprints for the work to be done and plans the steps to be taken to complete the task.
• Uses extensive knowledge of available materials and the latest technologies to plan and select the material and tools to be used for the task.
• Shapes the material by cutting, drilling, boring, turning, milling, planning, and grinding.
• Finishes and assembles parts by hand and uses scribers, gauges, and other instruments to achieve accuracy.
• Remains up-to-date on information about new technology in materials, methods and equipment.
• Reports to the Production Manager. Works with other machinists and repair production equipment and make custom parts.
• Physically demanding job as some lifting is required.
• Be aware of Health and Safety standards; along with a high understanding of Dignity and Diversity in the workplace.
• Good personal hygiene and a tidy and appropriate dress sense uniform will be provided that you will be required to wear.
• Takes precise measurements for cutting and shaping.
• Selects appropriate machines and settings for a given task.
• Maintains inventory of completed products.
• Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects.
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Maintains a safe and clean workstation.
