A leading company in the construction industry is seeking a Legal Counsel to assist the Senior Legal Counsels in providing legal services, managing disputes, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Jurisprudence or Bachelor of Laws degree, a minimum of five years of experience, and a strong background in litigation and commercial transactions. This role offers the opportunity to establish positive relationships with stakeholders and support the company's legal operations.

Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Senior Legal Counsels in providing legal advice and services on all matters/issues with legal consequences brought before the office, including but not limited to counseling and/or assistance on regulatory, documentation, negotiation, due diligence and implementation of various business and commercial transactions
  • Manages and attends to disputes and litigation involving the Company before before judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative tribunals
  • Drafts and reviews contracts and other legal documents involving the company or directly related to or pertaining to its operations to ensure compliance with the policies and standards of the company
  • Assists in corporate secretarial work including corporate housekeeping
  • Monitors changes in legislation and legal developments that may have potential impact on the business operations and correspondingly, provides updates to concerned and affected groups in the company
  • Conducts legal education and awareness training to other functions;
  • Acts as technical assistant and will be responsible for the preparation of the reports; developing and maintaining the systems and processes of the department
  • Implements the Code of Business Conduct, Document Retention and Destruction (DRD) Directive and other internal policies
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with various stakeholders

Requirements:

  • Doctor of Jurisprudence or Bachelor of Laws Degree holder
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the practice of law
  • Must have a solid background in litigation, negotiation, and commercial transactions
  • Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of court procedures, litigation and arbitration proceedings
  • Must have skills for out-of-court negotiation and dispute settlements
  • A good communicator, both written and oral
  • Strong problem-solving skills, ability to think strategically and to develop & implement plans and programs, a wide degree of creativity and latitude, self-driven and can work under pressure
  • Must have a strong sense of integrity and business ethics
