Job summary

EPAM Systems is hiring a Lead Database Administrator to own SQL Server environments, ensure uptime, security, and performance. The role requires strong incident management, DR testing, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

You will implement high-availability solutions, optimize queries, and automate routine maintenance while coordinating with application and infrastructure teams for end-to-end efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience administering SQL Server environments.
• Experience with DR/backup strategies and high availability.

Responsibilities

• Administer Microsoft SQL Server environments to ensure stable daily operations.
• Monitor database health, capacity, and performance metrics; detect issues early.
• Resolve incidents related to outages and performance degradation.
• Optimize queries, indexes, and schema design to reduce bottlenecks.
• Own upgrades, patching, and security hardening of databases.
• Lead recovery testing and DR planning.
• Build monitoring and alerting for observability.
• Automate routine tasks with scripts for maintenance and reporting.
