Job summary

InterProminent Agency Inc. is seeking a First Assistant Engineer (Second Engineer) to join our crew in Manila. The role reports to the Chief Engineer and supports safe operation, maintenance, and supervision of engine room machinery and personnel.

Responsibilities include implementing planned maintenance, supporting cargo operations, and ensuring engine department efficiency. Candidates must hold relevant certificates and have PMS and SOLAS/MARPOL/ISM/MLC knowledge.

Qualifications

• Valid Second Engineer Certificate of Competency.
• Valid STCW certification and required Flag State endorsements.
• Experience operating and maintaining marine propulsion and auxiliary machinery.
• Strong knowledge of Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS).
• Familiarity with cargo handling machinery and engineering support systems.
• Good understanding of SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and MLC 2006.
• Strong organizational, communication, and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• The First Assistant Engineer (Second Engineer) reports directly to the Chief Engineer and assists in the safe operation, maintenance, and supervision of engine room machinery and engineering personnel.
• Assist in implementing planned maintenance with focus on efficiency and reliability.
• Support cargo operations and ensure engine department readiness.
• Maintain and supervise engine room personnel and tasks.
• Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM Code, and MLC 2006.
• Coordinate with other departments for safe vessel operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve engine room issues promptly.
