Qualifications

• 5+ years of DevOps and infrastructure delivery for web apps.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience integrating Elastic Stack (ELK) for monitoring and data.
• Proven ability to host and deploy Node.js backend services.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of GCP infrastructure and DevOps practices for an internal developer portal.
• Design scalable hosting and deployment patterns for web applications and Node.js services.
• Build integrations that connect Elastic Stack entities into the Backstage software catalog.
• Integrate extensions, templates, and render scripts to expand Backstage capabilities.
• Implement a capability to run Terraform scripts as part of platform workflows.
• Integrate JIRA service desk capabilities into the portal.
• Integrate Jenkins CI/CD capabilities into the portal.
• Coordinate work across distributed teams to deliver cross-cutting platform improvements.
• Apply AI-assisted development workflows to increase team productivity and delivery speed.

We are seeking a Lead Backstage.io GCP DevOps Engineer to build and evolve an internal developer portal on Google Cloud Platform, spanning infrastructure, web applications, and Node.js hosting and deployment with enterprise integrations. You will lead delivery across distributed teams and leverage AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate outcomes.
