Job summary

FactSet Research Systems Inc. in Manila seeks a Lead Software Engineer to design, fine-tune, and deploy small/open-source large language models and NLP workflows. You will provide hands-on leadership and guide architecture decisions across Python-based data pipelines and ETL processes.

The role requires mentoring engineers, collaborating with stakeholders, and shaping scalable systems using FastAPI/Flask/Django in a cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 8-12 years of industry experience with 3+ years in senior or lead roles delivering ML/AI solutions.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Mastery of Python to build ETL pipelines, OOP, testing, and packaging.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL or equivalent).
• Hands-on deployment and scaling of AI/ML services on AWS/Azure/GCP; containers and serverless.
• Proven mentoring and cross-team collaboration.
• Excellent ability to explain complex topics to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design, fine-tune, and deploy open-source large language models (LLMs) such as Llama, Mistral, OpenAI GPT, etc.
• Hands-on leadership in prompt engineering, few-shot prompting, and building advanced NLP/NLU workflows.
• Guide adoption of modern AI/ML frameworks (Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, LangGraph) and architect reusable pipelines in Python.
• Drive critical systems architecture in Python, using API and microservices design (FastAPI, Flask, Django).
• Provide technical leadership to the development team, guide on architecture, design, and implementation decisions.
• Lead and manage a technical team of 10 members.
• Provide technical support by incident resolution, and production troubleshooting
• Code quality through code reviews, advocating coding standards, and identifying risks before code reviews.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and the healthy technical discussions engineering team.
