We are currently looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Quality Assurance Laboratory at the Medina Plant.

This role ensures accurate, timely testing of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products in line with international standards such as ISO 17025, BRCGS, FSSC 22000, and HACCP. The Laboratory Manager will lead the lab team, maintain regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to support Axelum’s commitment to food safety and quality excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise all laboratory testing on raw materials, semi-finished, and finished coconut-based products (e.g., coconut water, desiccated coconut, coconut milk)
• Ensure the accuracy and reliability of physical, chemical, and microbiological test results
• Develop and implement testing protocols aligned with global food safety standards
• Manage laboratory equipment calibration, maintenance, and verification schedules
• Lead internal audits, prepare for external inspections, and support regulatory compliance
• Investigate non-conforming results, implement corrective actions, and maintain audit-ready documentation
• Lead, train, and manage laboratory personnel, ensuring technical competence and productivity
• Monitor lab performance, develop schedules, and ensure adequate staffing and resources
• Analyze trends to enhance lab efficiency and recommend improvements in methods and technologies
• Coordinate with QA, Production, and R&D teams to align testing with product specifications
• Prepare and submit timely laboratory reports and technical data to support decision-making and customer inquiries

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or related field
• Licensed Chemist (preferred or required depending on regulations)
• At least 5 years of experience in laboratory management or a senior QA role, ideally in food or coconut processing
• Proficient in food safety testing methods and instruments
• Strong knowledge of ISO 17025, HACCP, GMP, BRCGS, and FSSC 22000
• Skilled in audit handling, documentation, method development, and root cause analysis
• Excellent leadership, analytical thinking, and communication skills
