Job summary

The Hans Foundation is seeking a Laboratory Technician on a contractual, 1-year basis in Deengaon, Uttarakhand. The role involves laboratory tasks including sampling, testing, measuring and recording results, with support to health programs.

Educational qualification: DMLT/BMLT with paramedical registration, 0–3 years experience in MMU/hospital/public health, and fluency in Hindi and local dialect. The incumbent will work under the Project Coordinator and may participate in mobile OPD/health

Qualifications

• A DMLT/BMLT from a recognized institute.
• 0-3 years relevant experience in a MMU/hospital/clinic or in public health program.
• State paramedical registration is must.

Responsibilities

• Organize the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make product identification easier and faster.
• Maintain control over delivering, stocking and labeling medicines and other products and monitor their condition to prevent expiry or deterioration.
• Review and verify physician prescriptions for appropriateness and legality.
• Listen carefully to customers to interpret their needs and provide information and advice.
• Assist other medical services such as injections, blood pressure and temperature measurements.
• Keep records of patient history and of all activities regarding heavy medications.
• Comply with all applicable legal rules, regulations and procedures.
• Liaise with other healthcare personnel to share information about patient background and progress.
• Assist the coordinator health/medical officers during routine mobile OPD/health camps or emergencies.
• Undertake any other duties assigned by Coordinating Office management.
• Certification is must for the role.

GENERAL

1. JOB PURPOSE

Laboratory technician will be responsible for laboratory-based tasks which includes sampling, testing, measuring and recording results in biological, chemical, physical and life sciences. S/he will also provide all the required technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively, while adhering to correct procedures for health and safety guidelines.

2. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Organize the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster;
• Maintain full control over delivering, stocking and labeling medicine and other products and monitor their condition to prevent expiring or deterioration;
• Review and execute physician’s prescriptions checking their appropriateness and legality;
• Listen carefully to customers to interpret their needs and issues and offer information and advice;
• Provide assistance other medical services such as injections, blood pressure/ temperature measurements etc.;
• Keep records of patient history and of all activities regarding heavy medication;
• Comply with all applicable legal rules, regulations and procedures;
• Liaoning with other healthcare personnel / medical officers to supply and receive relevant information about the background and progress of patients, as well as to refer order for progress to be made.
• Assist the coordinator health/ medical officers during routine mobile OPD / health camps or in time of emergency.
• Undertake any other duties assigned time to by Coordinating Office management
• Certification is must for the role

Educational Qualifications

Functional / Technical Skills and Relevant Experience & Other requirements (Behavioural, Language, Certifications etc.)

• 0-3 years relevant experience in a MMU/hospital/clinic or in public health program.
• The candidate should be well versed with Hindi and local dialect
• Should be patience, polite and have a positive attitude.
• State paramedical registration is must.
