Job summary

INSURANCE COMPANY OF NORTH AMERICA (A Chubb Company) seeks a Junior Linux Ops specialist to help maintain and enhance our global Linux server infrastructure across multiple data centers. You will automate tasks, participate in on-call support, and contribute to disaster recovery efforts.

You will diagnose incidents on RHEL/SLES, work with cross-functional teams, and mentor junior staff while expanding your automation and scripting skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive and recent support experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server in a global multi-data center.
• Advanced knowledge of Linux server OS (RHEL 8.x/9.x, SLES 15).
• Advanced knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible).
• Experience developing and maintaining Bash scripts; Python/JavaScript helpful.
• Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite Server systems management.
• Networking basics: routing, switching, firewalls, load balancing, VLANs.
• Experience with virtualization and container platforms (VMware vSphere, Docker, Kubernetes, AKS).
• Windows Server knowledge is a plus; IBM AIX knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and diagnose incidents and problems on RHEL and SLES servers.
• Participate in follow-the-sun support for the global Linux environment.
• Collaborate with network, security, development, and apps teams on infrastructure implementations.
• Provide training, mentorship, and act as escalation point for junior team members.
• Automate operational, monitoring, and integrity-verification tasks using runbooks and scripts.
• Perform daily system monitoring, log review, and verify key process availability.
• Create and maintain documentation for Linux infrastructure installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Identify monitoring/alerting gaps and develop solutions.
• Support on-call and after-hours incidents, including disaster-recovery plan execution.
• Participate in change, incident, and problem management processes.
