Job Description
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- A Janitor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring the upkeep of facilities, such as offices, schools, hospitals, or public buildings. They perform cleaning and maintenance duties to create a safe, hygienic, and pleasant environment for employees, visitors, or residents.
- Cleaning and Sanitizing: Sweep, mop, dust, and vacuum floors; clean windows, restrooms, and common areas; empty trash cans and dispose of waste.
- Restroom Maintenance: Ensure that restrooms are stocked with necessary supplies (e.g., toilet paper, soap, towels) and sanitized regularly.
- Floor Care: Perform basic floor care, including stripping, waxing, and buffing floors as needed.
- Light Maintenance: Perform minor repairs or maintenance tasks (e.g., fixing leaky faucets, replacing light bulbs) or report issues to maintenance staff.
- Experience: Previous experience in a cleaning or janitorial role is typically preferred but not always required. Training may be provided on the job.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, standing, and moving equipment for extended periods.
- Attention to Detail: A keen eye for cleanliness and the ability to notice areas that require cleaning or maintenance.
- Time Management: Ability to manage tasks efficiently and complete assigned duties within set timeframes.
- Organizational Skills: Keep cleaning materials, tools, and supplies well organized and in proper working condition.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols related to cleaning chemicals, equipment, and waste disposal.
- Basic Skills: Ability to follow instructions and basic literacy to read labels, signs, and instructions on cleaning products.
