Position Overview

We are seeking an IT Hive Virtual Administrator to support and maintain our integrated IT program. The candidate will work alongside other Systems engineers, architects, and technical streams to design, build, and support a streaming and messaging platform.

You will also be responsible for overseeing end-to-end agile design, scoping, implementation, and working closely with the development and Service design teams to deliver a quality product. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience working with development and automation around Hive technologies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for storage, performance tuning, and volume management of Hadoop clusters.
  • Deploy Hadoop clusters, add and remove nodes, monitor jobs, configure high availability, schedule, and take backups.
  • Install and configure software, apply patches, and upgrade as needed.
  • Plan capacity and implement hardware/software upgrades for storage infrastructure.
  • Design, set up clusters, fine-tune performance, monitor, and plan scaling.
  • Communicate with development, administration, and business teams.
  • Design and develop Data Lake and Data Warehousing solutions.
  • Configure Hadoop security and implement security measures.
  • Provide helpdesk support, resolve tickets, and address critical issues.
  • Maintain schedule flexibility during project launches or software updates.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Candidate Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of Hadoop architecture.
  • Experience troubleshooting open-source technologies, configuration management, and deployment.

  • Knowledge of software lifecycle management.
  • Experience configuring high availability for name-nodes.
  • Backup scheduling and data movement in Hadoop.
  • Project management skills and familiarity with tools like MS Project.
  • Effective collaboration with application and infrastructure teams.
  • Strong organizational and task management skills.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Conditions of Employment
