Job Summary
We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Investment Associate to support the sourcing, evaluation, execution, and management of investment opportunities. The role will be responsible for conducting in-depth financial and market analysis, developing financial models, leading due diligence activities, and preparing investment materials to support investment decisions. The Investment Associate will work closely with senior investment professionals, founders, executives, intermediaries, advisors, and portfolio company stakeholders throughout the investment lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, source, and evaluate potential investment opportunities through market research, industry intelligence, networking, and relationships with founders, executives, intermediaries, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, financial modeling, valuation, and industry research to assess investment opportunities, business performance, risks, and growth potential.
- Build and review financial models to assess investment returns, business scenarios, valuation, and transaction considerations.
- Conduct in-depth industry, market, and competitor research to identify trends, market dynamics, risks, and opportunities relevant to potential investments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with founders, executives, investment intermediaries, advisors, and other stakeholders to support deal sourcing and execution.
- Lead and coordinate due diligence activities across financial, commercial, legal, operational, ESG, and other relevant workstreams, working closely with internal teams and external advisors.
- Prepare detailed investment memoranda, presentations, financial analyses, and other materials for internal investment discussions and decision-making.
- Support deal structuring, transaction analysis, negotiations, and execution, including coordinating with relevant stakeholders and external advisors.
- Analyze potential transaction structures, investment terms, valuation assumptions, and other key deal considerations.
- Support post-investment planning and portfolio company transition activities, including developing insights and recommendations related to business performance and value creation.
- Monitor the financial and operational performance of portfolio companies and contribute to portfolio reviews, management discussions, and investor reporting.
- Support strategic initiatives of portfolio companies, including business expansion, capital raising, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and operational improvement projects.
- Assist in portfolio valuation and exit planning, including analysis of potential exit strategies and transaction considerations.
- Collaborate with senior investment professionals, portfolio company management teams, internal stakeholders, and external advisors throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Stay informed on macroeconomic developments, industry trends, competitive dynamics, and market conditions that may impact investment opportunities and portfolio companies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or a related field. An MBA is an advantage.
- 4+ years of experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking, Management Consulting, Corporate Finance, Transaction Advisory, or a related field.
- Strong experience in financial modeling, financial analysis, valuation, and investment analysis.
- Strong understanding of business fundamentals, financial statements, market dynamics, and investment evaluation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience preparing investment memoranda, presentations, financial models, valuation analyses, and reports.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, stakeholders, and deadlines.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial and business information clearly and effectively.
- Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills, particularly when working with senior executives, founders, advisors, and external partners.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced investment environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Private Equity, Investment Banking, M&A, Transaction Advisory, or investment-focused Management Consulting.
- Strong knowledge of valuation methodologies, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), comparable company analysis, and precedent transactions.
- Experience coordinating or leading financial, commercial, operational, or other due diligence workstreams.
- Experience supporting deal structuring, negotiations, transaction execution, or portfolio company initiatives.
- Familiarity with Capital IQ or similar financial and market intelligence platforms.
- Exposure to ESG considerations in investment evaluation and due diligence is a plus.
