We are looking for an Intermediate SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to support and maintain the organisation’s database systems, ensuring performance, security, and availability. The role involves database administration, performance tuning, backups, and troubleshooting issues. This position is ideal for candidates with experience in SQL database administration, eager to grow in a fast-paced environment.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring availability and performance.
  • Perform routine database maintenance including backups, indexing, and query optimisation.
  • Monitor database health, troubleshoot performance issues, and resolve database-related incidents.
  • Support the implementation of database security best practices, ensuring compliance with data protection standards.
  • Assist in database design, schema changes, and query optimisation.
  • Work with development teams to support database changes, deployments, and upgrades.
  • Document database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Participate in database recovery planning and disaster recovery (DR) exercises.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience as a SQL Database Administrator.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2016/2019/2022 and database administration principles.
  • Experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery.
  • Experience working with SQL Profiler, Execution Plans, and Dynamic Management Views (DMVs).
  • Understanding of T-SQL, stored procedures, and database scripting.
  • Experience with database security, user roles, and permissions management.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or SQL Server-related certifications.
  • Experience with cloud-based databases (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL).
  • Exposure to PowerShell scripting for database automation.
  • Interest in continuous learning and problem-solving.
