Job summary

Axos Bank is seeking a Working level data tester to join a delivery team or shared pool. You will independently design and execute tests for standard work items under the Data QA Lead.

You will validate ETL/ELT processes and data quality across SSIS, dbt, Fivetran, Python ingestion, and Databricks, while leveraging AI tools to accelerate test case generation. You will participate in Agile ceremonies, review requirements, and document defects with clear reproduction steps.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in QA testing in data engineering or data warehousing.
• Strong SQL for data validation and basic Python scripting.
• Experience testing ETL/ELT loads or data warehouse changes.
• Familiar with defect and test management tooling (Azure DevOps).
• Good verbal and written communication; able to work under pressure.
• Ability to learn new technologies and agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform QA/QC duties for the Enterprise Data Management life cycle.
• Review requirements, draft acceptance criteria and test cases.

About This Job

Working level data tester assigned to a delivery team or the shared pool. Independently designs and executes tests for standard work items under the direction of the Data QA Lead.

Job Description

• - Perform quality assurance and quality control duties for the Enterprise Data Management and data development life cycle
• - Participate in backlog refinement; review requirements and technical specifications and draft acceptance criteria and test cases before development starts
• - Define, prepare and execute data validation, unit, integration, regression and source to target testing across SSIS, dbt, Fivetran, Python ingestion and Databricks pipelines
• - Validate technical specifications against finished data products and support post-production data audits
• - Execute the practice quality gate checks (accuracy, latency, performance, security) for assigned work items and report results
• - Document defects in Azure DevOps with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence; retest fixes
• - Maintain and execute assigned automated regression checks; contribute new automated checks with guidance
• - Work with business analysts and developers to clarify scope and expected results
• - Leverage AI/LLM-powered tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to accelerate test case generation, synthetic data and query review, validating AI-assisted output before use
• - Utilize Agile methodologies; participate in daily scrums, testing, code reviews, build release and other recurring meetings

Required Key Knowledge Skills/ Experience

• - 2+ years in QA testing, preferably in a data engineering or data warehousing environment
• - Solid SQL for data validation and reconciliation; basic Python scripting
• - Experience testing ETL/ELT loads or data warehouse changes
• - Experience with defect and test management tooling (Azure DevOps or equivalent)
• - Good verbal and written communication skills
• - Superior problem-solving skills, self-motivation and the capacity to work under pressure and on tight deadlines
• - Demonstrated ability to learn and utilize new technologies, disciplines and frameworks as needed
• - Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Preferred Experience

• - Hands-on experience with Databricks (PySpark, Delta Lake, Databricks Workflows/Jobs) or other Big Data/Spark platforms
• - Exposure to data test automation frameworks (e.g., pytest, dbt tests)
• - Exposure to Tableau or other BI reporting layers
• - Banking or financial services industry experience
