Responsibilities

• Masons are skilled laborers responsible for building structures using masonry materials like brick, stone, and concrete.
• Their duties include interpreting blueprints, laying out foundations, cutting and shaping materials, mixing and applying mortar, and ensuring alignment and structural integrity.
• Masons also handle repairs and maintenance of existing masonry structures.
• Construction: Masons construct walls, chimneys, and other masonry structures, following blueprints and specifications.
• Material Handling: They lift, carry, and transport materials like bricks, blocks, and stones.
• Tool Operation: Masons use various hand and power tools, including chisels, hammers, and saws, for cutting, shaping, and finishing materials.
• Mortar Mixing: They mix mortar, a cement-based adhesive, and apply it to bind masonry units together.
• Layout and Alignment: Masons accurately lay out patterns, forms, and foundations according to plans, ensuring proper alignment and structural integrity.
• Repairs and Restoration: They repair and restore damaged or deteriorated masonry structures, using techniques like patching, re-pointing, and brick replacement.
