Job summary

Vestas Digital Solutions is seeking a skilled Virtualization and Compute Administrator to manage our central datacenter, remote sites, and cloud platforms. You will handle deployment, provisioning, operations, and maintenance while ensuring security and compliance.

You will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, perform server patching and DR planning, and collaborate with architects, engineers, and vendors to optimize performance and capacity across hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• Virtualization and compute experience in enterprise infra.
• Experience with on-prem, remote sites and cloud platforms.
• Proven patching, hardening, and security assessment skills.
• Experience with large enterprise governance and ITIL/SDLC.
• Familiarity with Service-now and Azure DevOps in DevOps teams.
• Agile ways of working and Azure cloud focus.

Responsibilities

• Manage virtualization and compute across central datacenter, remote sites, and cloud.
• End-to-end lifecycle: deployment, provisioning, operations, maintenance.
• Ensure security, hardening, and compliance standards.
• Support on-call rotations with teammates.
• Patch OS, hypervisor, and firmware; assess security patches.
• Restore VM/files at requested granularity.
• Participate in disaster recovery design and drills.
• Troubleshoot server, hypervisor, and VM issues.
• Administer HPE hardware (ProLiant, iLO, OneView) or equivalents.
• Collaborate with architects, SMEs, and engineers; engage vendors/customers.
• Manage capacity, storage growth, and performance improvements.

Vestas Digital Solutions oversees a broad set of activities focused on advancing the digital agenda. The Compute & Cloud Platforms (CCP) accelerates digital product development by providing a secure and enterprise-ready infrastructure on-prem and in cloud.

Responsibilities:

• Manage Virtualization and Compute platform in Central Datacenter, Remotes sites and cloud.


• Handle end-to-end lifecycle (deployment, provisioning, operations, maintenance)


• Ensure systems meet security, hardening, and compliance standards


• Participate in 24/7 on-call support rotation with colleagues


• Perform server patching (OS, hypervisor) and security patch assessment


• Perform Full VM, VM file, and guest file level restore request


• Participate in disaster recovery exercise, design and maintain disaster recovery plans


• Demonstrate deep knowledge of troubleshooting Servers, Hypervisors and Virtual Machines issues


• Administer and identify and resolve HPE hardware (ProLiant, iLO, OneView) or equivalent.


• Work with Architects, Subject Matter Experts, Solution Designers, and engineers


• Work with Vendor and Customer during the hardware and performance issues


• Capacity management, manage storage usage and growth projections


• Performance management, analyze and recommend performance improvement

Qualifications:

• Virtualization: VMware (vSphere, ESXi), Nutanix (AHV, Prism)


• Compute: HPE ProLiant, iLO, firmware lifecycle management


• Scripting: PowerShell, PowerCLI automation, Python, Terraform, Ansible, etc


• Patch Management: OS, hypervisor, firmware, security vulnerability assessment


• Tools: Visual Studio / VS Code, GitHub, Grafana, Dynatrace


• Security: Solid security mindset, system hardening, risk assessment


• AI Usage: Comfortable using AI tools for automation, troubleshooting, and productivity


• Effective collaboration and communication


• Good problem-solving and structured thinking


• Initiative and ownership mindset


• Experience with general operating system operation, Windows, Linux, etc. for physical and virtual workloads.


• Experience working with large enterprise environments and governance models.


• Experience in working with Service-now and Azure DevOps


• Experience with Agile ways of working and experience with Microsoft Azure in a DevOps team structure


• Experience in Cloud Technology primarily Azure

Working in Compute & Cloud Platforms typically requires a solid technical understanding of IT infrastructures such as on-premise data center technologies as well as integrated hybrid solutions and platform services.
