Job summary

NQX Philippines is seeking an Application Developer (Dev 2) / Database Administrator to design, implement, and optimize secure database solutions supporting business operations. The role emphasizes performance, reliability, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The successful candidate will manage high-availability databases, DR readiness, and cloud-based solutions where applicable, while mentoring junior team members and ensuring data integrity throughout deployments and upgrades.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/College Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology, Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in the development field is required
• Good communication skills with the ability to present technical details to a non-technical audience
• Proven track record of development and implementation of delivery disciplines
• The ability to work with a structured and methodical approach, combined with an enquiring mind
• Ability to build onto the work of other developers coding framework
• Leadership attributes and experience
• Hardworking and results-driven, able to influence the team to perform well with or without minimal supervision with ability to coordinate and work with different stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, and maintain database environments according to standards and security policies.
• Manage administration and optimization of complex database systems including high-availability and DR.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members.
• Identify, analyze, and execute database maintenance, upgrades, migrations, and performance tuning.
• Design and implement database monitoring, backup, and recovery procedures.
• Create and maintain database architecture, operational, and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to communicate risks and dependencies.
• Develop and document testing, validation, backup, recovery, and DR procedures.
• Assist the Support Team during deployments, upgrades, migrations, and rollouts.
• Monitor health, performance, capacity, and availability; prevent service disruptions.
• Troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement fixes to ensure data integrity.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and dev teams to optimize system performance.
