Job summary

Recurrent Energy is seeking an HSE Specialist to develop, implement, and continuously improve Health, Safety, and Environmental programs across its operations. You will report to the Site Manager and/or HSE Manager, ensuring compliance with regulations and promoting a strong safety culture during construction, operations, and maintenance activities.

Qualifications

  • College diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of HSE experience in construction, renewable energy, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, utilities, or environmental remediation environments.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, compliance frameworks, and industry best practices applicable to Mexico.
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, risk evaluations, contractor safety audits, and method statement reviews.
  • Experience leading incident investigations and performing root cause analyses using recognized methodologies.
  • Experience developing and delivering HSE training programs and safety awareness initiatives.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 management systems is preferred.
  • Experience with lithium-ion battery energy storage systems (BESS), high-voltage electrical systems, and arc flash protection is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance – ensures compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental regulations, company policies, and industry standards through workplace inspections, audits, monitoring activities, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Risk Management & Incident Prevention – conducts hazard assessments, workplace inspections, risk evaluations, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action programs to identify, mitigate, and prevent workplace risks and environmental incidents.
  • HSE Systems & Continuous Improvement – supports the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems, driving initiatives that strengthen compliance and overall safety performance.
  • Contractor Management & Stakeholder Collaboration – Partners with project teams, contractors, subcontractors, and management to promote HSE best practices, monitor compliance, and ensure the safe execution of construction, operational, and maintenance activities.
  • Training & Safety Culture – Develops and delivers HSE training programs, safety awareness campaigns, toolbox talks, and behavior-based safety initiatives that foster employee engagement and continuous learning.
  • Reporting & Performance Monitoring – Compiles, analyzes, and reports HSE performance metrics, prepares technical reports, tracks corrective actions, and provides recommendations to improve organizational safety performance.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Regulatory Support – Supports emergency response planning, drills, regulatory inspections, and compliance activities while ensuring readiness for operational and environmental emergencies.
  • Additional Responsibilities – Participates in special projects, supports cross-functional initiatives, and performs other duties as assigned to support business objectives and continuous improvement efforts.

About the Position:

The HSE Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) programs across Recurrent Energy's operations.
