A leading company seeks an HR Legal Officer responsible for overseeing legal aspects of HR practices and ensuring compliance with employment laws. The ideal candidate will manage contract negotiations, support dispute resolutions, and provide legal training to the HR team. A strong background in HR law and excellent communication skills are essential for this role.
The HR Legal Officer is responsible for overseeing all legal aspects of human resources practices and employee relations. This role ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations, advises on legal issues related to HR policies and procedures, and supports investigations, disciplinary actions, and dispute resolution. The officer will work closely with the HR department and legal counsel to mitigate legal risks and protect the organization's interests.
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); a Master’s degree or HR certification is an advantage.
Licensed to practice law (Bar admission preferred).
3–5 years of experience in legal practice, with at least 2 years in labor/employment law or HR legal advisory.
Sound knowledge of labor laws, employment standards, and HR regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
Legal Compliance:
Ensure HR policies and procedures comply with labor laws and corporate governance.
Monitor and interpret changes in employment legislation and communicate relevant updates to management.
Contract Management:
Draft, review, and advise on employment contracts, severance agreements, and other HR-related legal documents.
Dispute Resolution:
Support investigations into employee complaints and grievances.
Represent or assist the company in labor disputes, negotiations, and litigation.
Policy Development:
Assist in developing and updating HR policies, ensuring legal soundness and clarity.
Advise on disciplinary actions and terminations from a legal standpoint.
Training and Support:
Provide legal training to HR staff and management on employment laws and legal risk management.
Act as a resource for legal advice on daily HR operations.
Liaison and Representation:
Coordinate with external legal counsel when necessary.
Liaise with regulatory bodies and labor unions as required.
